Sheriff’s offices in La Crosse and Houston counties assisted federal agencies on Tuesday as they executed several search warrants in both counties.

Both La Crosse County Sheriff John Siegel and Houston County Sheriff Brian Swedberg told WIZM News that they aren’t weren’t able to say much since what happened is part of a larger and ongoing federal investigation.

The Houston County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page did say in a Wednesday afternoon post that what happened was not related to immigration enforcement.

La Crosse County Sheriff John Siegel said his office is not a part of the federal investigation.

Members of the sheriff’s office were only there to provide assistance since the activities were occurring in this jurisdiction, Sheriff Siegel said. He stated that it’s happened before when federal authorities came to La Crosse County during investigations.

Additional questions were referred to the US Attorney’s Office in Minneapolis.

We did reach out to the office and provide an update when they reply.
