Mistaken identity that led to shooting leads to prison term

A ten-year sentence for an Onalaska man convicted of shooting at a vehicle in revenge for a drug deal gone wrong.
On Friday, Yanior Davila was sentenced by Judge Ramona Gonzalez on charges including 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety.
In March 2023, prosecutors said that Davila was robbed at gunpoint during a drug deal.
Later, Davila saw what he thought was the vehicle used by the people involved in the robbery.
He fired a handgun at the vehicle. At least one of the shots hit the vehicle.
The young woman driver or the vehicle she was driving had no connection with the robbery. She wasn’t hit by the gunfire.
Originally, Davila was charged with attempted 1st Degree Intentional Homicide. It was later changed to the recklessly endangering safety charge he pleaded no contest to in court.
Davila will serve the first four years behind bars then six years of extended supervision.

I thought Ramona G retired. I sure wish she would, she’s too weak on violent crimes and her sentences don’t fit the crimes in La Crosse.

WIZM: “Mistaken identity led to shooting…”
Sure, it wasn’t the drug deal, or felon in possession of a handgun, or because the perp is a moron, it was just a case of mistaken identity.
At least Ramona didn’t show him out the side door.
