Kwik Trip stays on top of nationwide ranking of favorite gas station companies

La Crosse’s Kwik Trip continues to be the favorite gas station chain in America, according to new nationwide rankings by USA Today.

The local company has topped the newspaper’s gas station survey for six years in a row, also getting the top vote for the store chain with the best food. Kwik Trip has almost 900 locations in six states, sometimes under the Kwik Star name.

The USA Today list happens to be led by three chains all based in either Wisconsin or Iowa. Behind Kwik Trip at the top, Casey’s General Stores are in second place, with Hy-Vee ranking third. Love’s Travel Stops also makes the top 10. Though not based in the region, Love’s has area locations at Oakdale and St. Charles.

    A gallon of milk, any type, is $1.99 at Kwik Trip this week.

    Two years ago milk was running $3.69 a gallon.

    Gas is also down from then. These are the prices I care about.
    If you selectively grocery shop, watching for good specials, instead of just grabbing and slamming into your cart, this market is very competitive for food and you can spend far less than you currently are.
    We have a better selection of good groceries now and pay less than 2 years ago.
