Senior Fair provides opportunities for making connections

Several hundred people attended the annual Senior Fair Wednesday morning at the Omni Center in Onalaska.
This was the first time at the indoor facility.
In the past, it’s been held outside of the Onalaska Public Library.
Branch Manager Sherri Sinniger said that they outgrew the original location.
Moving indoors brings a couple of advantages. Sinniger said they can have more vendors at the Omni Center and more importantly, stay dry on days when the weather isn’t the best, like today.
Having additional vendors allows people more options when they’re looking for services.
“So this would allow our patrons, our people, to make a choice, weigh options of the different agencies for people with aging,” she said.
There were vendors talking about medical care, financial planning, funeral services, plus fun opportunities for seniors according to Sinniger.
More than 30 vendors had displays at the fair.
Sinniger said it was a place to make connections.
“And there’s a lot of networking and there’s a lot of good old-fashioned chatting, too.”
Although the weather wasn’t the best, there were classic cars on display by the entrance to the Omni Center from Coulee Classics Unlimited, Midwest Classics, and 608 Piston Pounders.
The event, run by the La Crosse County Library system, was sponsored by the Ben and Floyde Sias Trust.
