Sen. Baldwin objects to planned cuts in Medicaid and other insurance, debated in Congress

Millions of Americans might lose their health insurance, if the U.S. House passes a bill to reduce Medicaid, with the goal of providing tax cuts. So says Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin, speaking out against a federal plan which could leave 228,000 people in the state without health coverage.

“They are cutting in order to pay for massive tax breaks, for the very wealthy, and big corporations,” said Baldwin on Wednesday, during an on-line news conference.

Democrat Baldwin was joined during the session by Brooke Wampole, the mother of a 4-year-old boy who is learning to speak through therapy paid for by Medicaid. Wampole fears that spending cuts could halt the progress being made by her son.

“If cuts to Medicaid happen,” she said, “we might not get to hear our kids say mommy and dada. We might not get to hear about trapezoids and raisins,” says Wampole, referring to two of her son’s favorite words to speak, “and we might not get many ‘love yous.’ We deserve that.”

Senator Baldwin warns that spending cuts could force some rural hospitals and clinics to close. The Senator also criticizes GOP members of the House for holding a late-night session on the issue.

“You don’t host a hearing at 1 in the morning when you are proud of what you’re doing,” said Baldwin. “You host a Congressional hearing at 1 in the morning if you’re trying to hide what you’re doing from the American people.”

Baldwin says more than a million Wisconsin residents are enrolled in the Medicaid program, including 1 out of every 3 children around the state.

Pathetic fear mongering and propaganda by WIZM’s Brad Williams. Again.

The Medicaid waste, fraud and abuse cuts impose work requirements on the able bodied couch-surfing cheeto eaters who flooded the Social Security system under Obama and Biden. And yes, some of these slugs will then be off the welfare rolls which will extend Medicare/Medicaid solvency for legitimate recipients. The cuts need to be deep and need to be done asap.

Note 40% of Californians are on Medicaid as are almost half of NY City residents. That is inexcusable when jobs are plenty. Its a national embarrassment only a Democrat could be proud of.

Shame, shame Senator Baldwin. As recently as 2022 the Democrats convened a meeting on an Omnibus bill at 1:30 in the morning. What were you hiding? The late night meeting for the “Great Big Beautiful bill” was forced to that time by the shenanigans of the left to stall the process. In todays media, it’s impossible to hide what is being said unless the media chooses to not report on it. To quote Hamlet, ” The lady dost protest too much, methinks”. Senator Baldwin has used the tactic of loud protest to turn public attitude against good judgment far too often. Government, both sides, have dug a deep hole and the taxpayers are in the bottom of it. Before that hole collapses in on us there are going to have to be hard decisions and sacrifices made to get on the right track. We need to look back to WWII and the way Americans bonded together to win the battle. Self-sacrifice was a badge of patriotism with victory gardens , rationing, scrap drives and everyone focused on a common goal. Now is a time to come together and not be divided by the like of Baldwin!

    Walden – nailed it!

I would add as well that Senator Baldwin is yelling, ‘save the children’, yet she also yells, ‘kill the children (abortions for all, and whenever)! Those children also never get to hear the words mama/dada.

She also yells, ‘mutilate the children’, go ahead, whack off(pun intended) their naughty bits, modify their bodies, children should be able to chemically castrate themselves at will. The government will pay for it, because it is your right as a child.

She has no credibility when it comes to health, life and medical aid. She is a fraud!

One other comment I will make – we literally don’t have enough workers paying taxes to afford platinum level social benefits!

We have spent several decades aborting the workers that would have supported the next couple of generations of retirees! Those people are gone, the only way to get them back quickly is to import them, and that will destroy the fabric of the country!

Wisconsin ought to be very happy with itself because we seem hell bent in electing more people that support abortion of future workers and yes the included taxes that support your social benefits! So good job Wisconsin for electing the numbskulls that are architecting your dependence upon big government and big business! That will be where the money has to come from and they won’t willingly give you what you want, it will barely be enough for what you need!

This similar to how you creat bonsai plants, thru pruning and selective watering and nutrition! That is your democrat party, all feeling, no brain!

Recall Obama statement, the average American citizen doesn’t want much, now my add, and we will tell them what they want!

When Paul Ryan was House Speaker, the Democrats played the same game with their TV ad of a granny in a wheelchair being pushed off a cliff. Remember?

The main problem with Medicare and Medicaid is their similar names. People start thinking that Medicare is being threatened when Medicaid cuts are proposed. Medicaid should be called Federal Welfare.

Politicians, like whores, have no shame. They are both friendly when they want your money/votes.
