For two decades, the Viterbo campus in La Crosse has been the home of a local Boys and Girls Club, the Amie Mathy Center for Recreation and Education. Members and supporters of the Mathy Club marked its 20-year milestone with an event on Wednesday.

Leading the celebration was La Crosse Boys and Girls Club director Jake Erickson, who says there have been “thousands of kids that have grown up attending this club and being part of this partnership.”

The Amie Mathy Boys and Girls Club has been at Viterbo for 20 years.

Becky Strittmater just graduated from Viterbo, on a scholarship through the Boys and Girls Club on campus, and she was recognized Wednesday as the number 1 attendee at the Mathy Center. Becky says she enjoys “being here with all the young people, being here with the staff. The staff really drives me to who I am today,” she added. “I can’t thank them enough for helping me, guide me, and want me to learn more.”

Also getting recognition at the event was another new Viterbo graduate, Nathaniel Powell. Nathaniel and Becky both received their scholarships to the school four years ago, presented by the Boys and Girls Clubs.
