The La Crosse County Health Department said that Neshonoc Swarthout Park in West Salem is closed to swimming due to high E. coli counts in the water.

Testing is done weekly at beaches in the county by the department.

This is its first report for the 2025 season.

Samples for this week’s report were collected on Tuesday.

Of the eight beach water quality tests done by the county this week, Neshonoc Swarthout Park was the only one that came back negative.
