La Crosse Airport planning more talks with airlines that could serve the city, including the possible return of Delta

Delta Airlines ended regular air service to La Crosse two years ago, but the company and the city have been in talks to resume scheduled flights.
The La Crosse aviation board met on Monday, and Delta was mentioned as one of the carriers that could offer new flights to the Coulee Region. Airport business manager J.D. Roberts says some of the other contenders are Allegiant, United, and Utah-based Breeze Airways.
Roberts says the west coast of Florida is one region where La Crosse would like to expand its service. He referred to a meeting next month where La Crosse airport staffers will have discussions with some of those airlines flying in the Midwest.
While Denver has been cited as a site that could be popular, Roberts says La Crosse is likely to increase service to O’Hare in Chicago first.
The airport continues to see an increase in passengers, over levels from a year ago. In April, the number of riders in and out of La Crosse was just over 36-hundred, which was the highest number in seven months. So far this year, nearly 13-thousand people have flown through LSE, which is a 28 per cent increase over the first four months of 2024.
