Two killed in Winona County crash

Two elderly drivers died in a collision between two SUVs on Friday afternoon along I-90 in Winona County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2023 Toyota Rav4 driven by Warren Russel Hacker, 70, of Appleton, Wisconsin was westbound. Hadley Edwin Thompson, 83, of Pine Island, Minnesota was headed east in his 2022 Buick Enclave.

The two vehicles collided around 3:30 p.m. near the Lewiston exit of I-90.

Both men died in the crash.

A passenger in the Toyota, Patricia Rose Hacker, 71, suffered life-threatening injuries. She went to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

All three people wore seatbelts, the state patrol said.
