NWS: Fire Danger remains elevated in WI, MN

An elevated risk of wildfires continues for a second straight day in the Upper Midwest.
The National Weather Service office in La Crosse said that what developed on Sunday-low relative humidity, warm temperatures, southerly winds, and dry conditions, remains in the area on Monday afternoon.
This includes southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin-areas along and north of I-90.
The majority of counties in Minnesota and northern third of Wisconsin are under red flag warnings until this evening.
On the Wisconsin DNR WisBurn website, counties along the Mississippi River from Pierce to Grant are listed as having a High Fire Danger. This includes La Crosse, Trempealeau, Crawford, and Vernon counties.
Jackson and Monroe counties are classified as having a Very High Fire Danger on Monday afternoon.
The DNR said in a statement that they responded to nearly 100 wildfires in the last week.
Portions of the Dakotas and Nebraska are also affected by the red flag warnings.
The weather service said that under these conditions, fires can start and spread quickly. Use caution with any activities that involved activities outdoors that involve fires or the creation of sparks.
There may also be local burn bans in effect.
The DNR statement also said that they anticipate similar conditions for Tuesday.
