Independence man arrested on 5th OWI charge

An Independence man is arrested over the weekend for his fifth OWI offense.

Ronald J. Suchla was taken into custody after a one car crash Saturday evening just after 6 p.m. on County Road Q outside of Independence.

Deputies found Suchla walking around by his car which had heavy front end damage according to the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office.

As they talked to him, the deputies said they saw signs that indicated being under the influence.

Suchla went by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries.

When deputies checked his record, it showed Suchla had four previous OWI convictions.

He’s now awaiting a court appearance on the charges.
