As I See It

José Felipe Alvergue, the UW-Eau Claire professor, who used violence in an effort to silence conservative voices on campus, had his first court hearing this week.

He is being charged with disorderly conduct.

The young woman he targeted was brave enough to show up.

And what did the 46-year-old Alvergue do?

Like a little coward, he pleaded not guilty.

Jose, stop traumatizing the young woman. Be a man, own it, apologize.

Every day you drag this out, you re-victimize her. And no real man does that.

To the UW-Eau Claire administration, you are a disgrace. Every day you protect this thug simply because he has a faculty ID, you are an accomplice to Jose re-victimizing her.

You’re not defending education. You’re defending abuse.

Unfortunately this professor would only be scrutinized or punished if he had conservative views on campus.
One side can do no wrong no matter how bizarre the behavior.
    You said this nicely:

Well done Andy. The only thing I have to add is this… Professor Alvergue clearly demonstrated hostility toward anyone he believes leans conservative, a variant of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). Imagine being a student in his classroom and who shares a conservative sounding view in writing or during class discussion. This behavior occurred on campus where he works. He should lose his job as he is in a position of power over students and can no longer be trusted to treat students fairly and equally and without retribution for having conservative views.

This is now about UWEC dragging its feet. Final exams are now complete; the school year is over; students, teachers and faculty are off for the summer. Whew! dodged that one!

The outcome of this incident I predict will be a confidential memo no-one ever reads and no media ever reports (confidential personnel matter doncha know), stipulating the professor agrees not to again complicate anyone’s life and for that concession he receives full back pay.

And this is an example of why UW needs to have its budgetary throat choked further.
