Monroe Co. Sheriff IDs bodies found in river

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office provided more information on the deaths of two people found in the East Fork of the Lemonweir River on Sunday.

The victims are Leath Lambert and Heather Larsen.

Both were last seen at the Backwater Bar & Grill in Wyeville the night before.

The East Fork of the Lemonweir River runs behind the bar.

Information from the sheriff’s office released on Tuesday said that there wasn’t any indication of foul play.

Additional evidence found by investigators led to the sheriff’s office stating,

“We have determined conclusively from that evidence, as well as from recovered video evidence, that the couple died of a tragic accidental drowning after falling into the water.”
