Congressman Derrick Van Orden said that he’s rescheduling his upcoming virtual town hall meeting and missing votes in Congress due to a ‘credible threat’ made against his family.

Information posted on his official Facebook page said the threat was made against his wife, children, and grandchildren.

The threat was made in a letter delivered to his congressional office in Washington, D.C.

No specifics were mentioned but the threat was reported to authorities, the post said.

It goes on to say, “This type of behavior is the direct result of increasingly radical and violent rhetoric fueled by far-left Democrats who encourage hatred rather than healthy discourse.”

“It is a poison on our nation and every Member of Congress — Republican or Democrat — should fully condemn it when they see it.”
