The city administrator idea comes before the La Crosse city council again on Thursday night, during the council’s regular May meeting.

A proposal to hire an administrator was brought up last October, when the council voted to postpone the idea until spring to allow study by a special committee — and after half the council and mayor elections.

Last week, the city’s Judiciary and Administration Committee sent the administrator plan to the full council without recommendation, and the study group has suggested putting off a decision until February to allow for more public comment.

Council members could also vote on a resolution to protest the closure of two railroad crossing proposed by the Wisconsin DOT.

The state wants to close crossings at the intersections of Liberty and St. Cloud streets and Avon and Hagar streets, leaving just one street-level crossing on the north side of La Crosse.

The council meets at 6 p.m. Thursday at City Hall (agenda).

Not yet reported is that the City Council committee voted to proceed to the next step to create the City’s next taxpayer funded millionaire (otherwise known as city administrator).

Also, they supported spending millions $ on “improving” bicycle routes for a few blocks in the City.

Nothing says “we don’t care what taxpayers think” louder then moving to shut down direct government representation and recklessly spending millions of $.
