La Crosse’s school board and county board both have their first meetings of May scheduled for Monday night.

The Board of Education has a brief, special meeting before the regular 6 p.m. session, where it will swear in three new members — Merideth Garcia, Jeff Jackson and Molly Fuchs — and elect board officers.

School board president Juan Jimenez did not seek reelection last spring, so there will be a new board president.

This was all supposed to happen last week, but a storm caused the meeting to be postponed.

Meanwhile, the county board will discuss its climate action plan, as well as the future of the 111-acre county farmland.

Last month, the board voted to postpone the potential sale of that land.

New board, same as the old board.

    That is not a compliment.

Totally agree and why are they involved in climate change. Our children deserve great teachers, teaching them math, English, reading, writing, civics, history and critical thinking. That is what they need to be normal, happy, smart, critical thinkers. They need nothing else.
