Kentucky Derby “Racing for Abilities” watch party, fundraiser in La Crescent

A Kentucky Derby watch party and fundraiser for Houston County’s Ability Building Community (ABC) on Saturday.

Sammie Sherry with the nonprofit was in studio for WIZM’s La Crosse Talk discussing what ABC is all about and everything that’s happening for the Saturday fundraiser at Timeout Tavern in La Crescent.

ABC helps people with disabilities just live normal lives and this fundraiser — which raised $50,000 last year — will help provide their clients with things like Loggers and Rivoli tickets, as well as work opportunities in the community through Ability Building Community – ABC.

Wristbands for the fundraiser cost $10 now and $15 day of. That gets you the buffet, your name in the raffle and a drink called a Mint Julep. There’s also a hat contest because of course there is, it’s the Kentucky Derby. Also happening:

• Raffles (including a Gun Raffle)

The event runs from 1-7 p.m. Saturday.
