Drought conditions mostly gone across Wisconsin, remains in much of Minnesota, Iowa

The drought conditions in much of Wisconsin are gone according to new information from the National Weather Service.
Even before the weather came on Monday, the U.S. Drought Monitor on April 24 for the state showed more than two-thirds of Wisconsin was free of drought.
A portion of northern Wisconsin, and some southern and southwestern counties reported abnormally dry or moderate drought conditions.
They include Vernon, Crawford, and Grant counties. A small portion of La Crosse County remains affected.

It’s a big change from the beginning of October 2024 when more than 81 percent of the state reported drought conditions.
In contrast, only 18-percent of Minnesota is drought-free, mostly in the south-central part of the state.
Winona County and a portion of Houston County fall into portion not experiencing any drought.
Much of the state is under either moderate or severe drought conditions.

In Iowa, just under 28-percent is free of drought. That’s nearly double from just one week ago.
