Investigators with the La Crosse Fire Department are looking into the cause of an early morning fire at a construction company building.

They were called to the 400 block of Car Street at 5:15 a.m. for a fire alarm.

When they arrived, heavy smoke was coming from one end of the large building.

No one was inside when rescue crews did a search.

Crews brought hose lines to the back of the building while two ladder trucks were sent to the roof for ventilation and fire suppression.

Captain Travis George said there was moderate damage to the roof and trusses due to the fire.

No one was injured.
