Separate abuse cases lead to multiple charges against two men in La Crosse County court

A La Crosse man faces 12 criminal charges related to domestic abuse, including injury to a young child.

Twenty-four-year-old Carter Durnen is accused of trying to choke a woman earlier this month at a house in La Crosse. Durnen is also accused of causing physical injury to a child on repeated occasions in the past year.

The most serious charges could lead to prison sentences of up to 6 years, if Durnen is convicted. He’s scheduled for another hearing in La Crosse County court next week.

Also in court on Monday, bond was set at $10,000 cash for a Tomah man accused of repeated sexual contact with a child.

Stout

Forty-nine-year-old Derrick Stout appeared in a La Crosse court on Monday, to face two separate charges of sexual assault or contact with young children.

The DA’s office had sought a $50,000 bond, and requested that Stout have no contact with five specific people. Judge Elliott Levine ordered Stout to have no contact with minors under 18. Stout is expected back in court next week.
