Jury convicts La Crosse man of forcing a woman into prostitution, to repay a drug debt

A La Crosse man has been convicted of kidnapping, human trafficking, and other charges during a three-day trial that ended on Wednesday.

Jurors have found 45-year-old Drae Broadnax guilty on five counts, after deliberating Tuesday afternoon and early Wednesday.

Broadnax was arrested last fall, on charges that he forced a woman into prostitution, to pay off a debt she owed him from selling drugs. The woman said she had been threatened by Broadnax.

The jury convicted Broadnax on all five charges against him: kidnapping, human trafficking, false imprisonment, and two counts of bail jumping. A sentencing hearing for Broadnax is scheduled in late July. He has been in the La Crosse County jail since October.
