Previewing “Fired Up for Science” kids’ event with Viterbo chemistry prof. Dr. Backstrand

Parents, grab your kids for the “Fired up for Science” event happening at Viterbo University on Tuesday.
Viterbo chemistry professor, Dr. Kyle Backstrand, stopped in the WIZM studio to talks about some of the things people will see there, like gummy bear sacrifices, slime, elephant toothpaste and more.
La Crosse Talk airs weekdays at 6-8 a.m. Listen on the WIZM app, online here, or on 92.3 FM / 1410 AM / 106.7 FM (north of Onalaska). Find all the podcasts here or subscribe to La Crosse Talk wherever you get your podcasts.
The experiments are put on by Viterbo STEM students and some kids attending the event will also be able to participate. The experiments are best suited for kids 3-14 years of age.
The event happens 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Reinhart Center (map) and people can just register in the lobby as they come in.
Along with that, since we had a science expert in studio, we also discussed some news in that field, including the stories over the past week about a group bringing back the extinct dire wolves, like that’s shown in Game of Thrones.
