As I See It

I asked the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire one very simple question: Is José Felipe Alvergue, the professor accused of violently intimidating conservative students on campus, on a paid or unpaid administrative leave?

UW-Eau Claire passed me off to its media relations director for the entire Universities of Wisconsin.

Its response: “This is an ongoing personnel matter. We can’t comment.”

Translation, to me, sounds like shielding the aggressor with little to no regard for the students.

So now, I have filed a public records request and I want it all. I’ve requested emails, memos, even calendar invites. I want everything.

And I hope this helps the UW and UW-Eau Claire understand, this will not go away until the public and students have answers.

Thank you for continuing to bird dog this matter.

It’s nice to know there is at least one person at WIZM interested in actual journalism. You must be very lonely.

Keep after them. They should have to tell you. I noticed that the Eau Claire news organizations were keeping the professor’s name quiet too.

Thank you for keeping on top of this. I also sent a request to UWEC with the boiler plate non response.
