Bond for 19-year-old La Crosse shooting suspect Moran reduced to $1,000, allowing for his release from jail

A release plan was approved Thursday for the suspect in a recent La Crosse shooting.

The bond for 19-year-old Jaysen Moran of La Crosse has been reduced to $1,000. Jail records show that Moran was released later in the day.
La Crosse County Judge Elliott Levine said in court that Moran can be on house arrest and go to work.
Moran is charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting a 17-year-old boy in the arm, during a confrontation between two groups of people back in March.
Levine has said that evidence indicates Moran did fire a gun during the incident on Logan Street in north La Crosse.
At Thursday’s hearing, Moran’s defense attorney showed a video of the shooting victim speaking from a hospital bed, claiming he was shot while on the ground, and saying that no one in his group had guns.
Moran’s bond was set originally at $100,000 when he was arrested, but that has gradually been reduced during a series of court hearings.
No trial date has been set.

When we read stories like this I have Often said, “That it would be hard to be a judge”, because you don’t know all of the circumstances that the judge has to consider. However in this case the 19 year old, possessed, held and admitted pulling the trigger. It seems that there had to be an alternative to what seems to be basically a get out of jail free bond.It would be nice to know what the reasons were.

Everyone was always on Judge Gonzales’s back;”she’s too soft on criminals”, “lets everyone out”. Well she was a lot tougher then this guy. He is a threat to public safety. Judges are supposed to be impartial, Levine still thinks he is the Public defender even after all these years and we just put him on the bench for 6 more years. Also we put in MINI-Levine when we put Venstra on the bench. As if we didn’t already have a crappy enough reputation among criminals in the upper mid-west. Also thank you WIZM for being the only news out let that covers these travesties

Judge Elliot Levine….What is wrong with you? My wife and I witnessed this in front of our house, got the victim to our doorstep and took care of him u til the police arrived. While this shooting occurred Moran pointed the weapon at me and fired, striking my neighbors garage behind me. WHY was I not informed about this court appearance considering my wife and I were wittnesses to this???? And WHY would youeven consider releasing him under house arrest with all evidence showing he was the person who shot the victim in the same neighborhood where this crime was committed? My wife was so affected by this incident that she left our home immediately after because she didnt feel safe and did not return until after the police apprehended Moran and the other 2 involved in this shooting. Your actions in this matter show you have NO regard to the SAFETY of our neighborhood and the residents who live here. BELIEVE ME Judge Elliot Levine, this comment is going to show up on other social media platforms other than this one. You should be ashamed of your LIBERAL actions as you put this whole neighborhood at risk again. If you feel so righteous about your decision, why dont you have Mr. Moran stay at your residence?!?!?
