City council members in La Crosse choose Dickinson as president

The La Crosse city council has a new president, with Tamra Dickinson being elected to the post on Tuesday.
Dickinson has represented District 1 on the north side of La Crosse for two years.
She was chosen as president at Tuesday’s council organizational meeting, receiving 8 votes to 5 for Barb Janssen, who is a past council president.
After the vote, Dickinson said she hopes to work as a mediator and communicator between other council members, “making all the different layers of communication work between staff, between council members, between constituents, but a lot of it is making sure we learn from each other as council members.”
Dickinson says the proposal for a La Crosse city administrator will be one of the early issues she expects to handle as council president. She points out that a working group is expected to report on the issue to the council next month.
“We need to right away decide, how are we gonna work on that,” she said. “I’m encouraged to see what comes from the working group, they have one more meeting.” Dickinson says that group has done a lot of hard work on the administrator issue.
The new council president also says she supports the new $25 permit sticker needed to dispose of yard waste at Isle La Plume, saying that will raise money for city equipment.
