Realtor Dan Stacey was chosen Thursday night to throw out the first pitch for Explore La Crosse Day for the Milwaukee Brewers.

Stacey, who helps bring a caravan of kids each year to the game, will do that June 25 when the Brewers host the Pittsburgh Pirates.

This is the 28th year La Crosse is honored with a special day at the Brewers stadium and apparently not many other communities bring a bigger crowd.

Michelle Hoch from Explore La Crosse said about 19 buses took the trip to Milwaukee last summer totaling around 1,200 people.

As for selecting Stacey to throw out the first pitch, Hoch said he’s instrumental in helping out.

“Every year, (Stacey) helps us in supporting and contributing to take 10 kids from the Boys and Girls Club to American Family Field,” Hoch said.

Thursday, local fans headed to the Moose Lodge for the start of ticket sales for Explore La Crosse Day.

The yearly party featured ballpark-style food, and an appearance by Milwaukee’s mascot, Bernie Brewer.
