Ten students from area high schools are recognized for their efforts by the La Crosse Kiwanis Club.

This is the 50th year of awarding $750 scholarships, plaque, and balloon bouquet in school colors to the seniors-one from ten different schools.

Those chosen are nominated by the teachers at each school. The Kiwanis said they want to honor a “good kid”, someone who may get overlooked for other honors.

The money presented at the High School Scholarship Recognition banquet can be used for additional education after high school or career needs.

Here are this year’s recipients:

Andrew Schaub, Bangor High School

Erica Fechner, Holmen High School

Theron Hammell, La Crescent High School

Hailey Korish, Logan High School

Nick Putz, Onalaska High School

Caleb Godbold, Coulee Christian

Elizabeth Johnson, West Salem High School

Mae Lyga, Luther High School

Isabel Harden, Central High School

Anicca Klug, Aquinas High School

The banquet was at the Radisson Center.

Most of the funds for the scholarships come from the Kiwanis Flag Project.
