City committee reviews docking fees for big riverboat season in La Crosse

The City of La Crosse is getting ready for the big riverboats to come back for another season.

The Finance and Personnel Committee approved Thursday a docking agreement with American Cruise Lines, so the American Queen and its other boats can dock at Riverside Park for the next 10 years.

The company will pay $20,000 a year to the city through that agreement. The American ships returned to La Crosse last year after choosing to dock in Winona for a three-year period.

Although a few cruise ships are passing through La Crosse in May, the first scheduled stop down along the levee at Riverside Park is until mid-June.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
