Plenty of celebrating of St. Patrick’s Day and all things Irish are happening here in the La Crosse Area.

Two people that are taking part in many of the parties and activities over the next few days are this year’s Irish Rose Kathy Sexauer and Irish Man Steve Korger.

They were honored last week by the Shamrock Club with the titles for 2025.

One of the things she’s looking forward to is meeting all the people, Sexauer said, while Korger talked about sharing Irish culture and heritage when he spoke to WIZM News on Friday.

Korger talked about sharing Irish culture and heritage when he spoke to WIZM News on Friday while Sexauer said she was looking forward to seeing all the people over the next year.

They’ll start off seeing plenty of people as they lead Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown La Crosse.

About 50 units are in this year’s event.

It starts at noon by the Freighthouse Restaurant, goes up State Street to 2nd Street. It then goes from 2nd Street to Main Street to 7th Street to the Cathedral.

Korger says if the crowd is there, they could go all the way to the bluffs.

Along the parade route are people helping collect items for the Hunger Task Force.

When the parade finishes, there’s post-parade event back at the Freighthouse featuring Irish dancing and music from the Amadans.  Sexauer invited everyone to come down and enjoy the festivities.

Their duties as Irish royalty include visiting area schools and care centers on Monday.

The Shamrock Club is hosting a blood drive at the Onalaska Public Library from 11-4 on Tuesday.

Both Sexauer and Korger along with the club sponsor Irishfest this coming August.
