Two arrested after rural Chaseburg church property damaged

Charges are pending against two people arrested on Tuesday afternoon after they were seen damaging property at a church in rural Chaseburg.

According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, when the witness confronted the two people at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on County Road K, the pair fled in a vehicle about 3:15 p.m.

The witness called 911 with a description of the vehicle.

A little more than an hour later, a state trooper pulled over a vehicle matching the description given by the witness.

They later found that the license plates were removed from the vehicle, a Subaru Legacy.

Taken into custody was Emmett Price Rathert, 22, of La Crosse. The sheriff’s office said the other person identified herself as Saw Kyat Lin Oo, 22, of St. Paul. Her identity is still being confirmed according to the sheriff’s office.

Both were jailed and awaiting a bail hearing in Vernon County Circuit Court.
