Board keeps lease for brewery parking

La Crosse’s Board of Public Works, who last week decided to end a lease agreement with the City Brewery over some parking spaces changed its mind on Monday.

At the March 3 meeting, the board approved terminating the lease as a way to force the brewery to deal with the smells coming from it.

On Monday, they reconsidered the proposal, with all five members voting to in favor of keeping the lease after the brewery provided more information to the board on repairs to the wastewater treatment plant.

The brewery said it has to replace the reactor cover at the plant-something they’re planning on doing this year.

With that work complete, Plant Manager Matthew Sweet said in a letter to Mayor Reynolds it would “be a crucial step toward further enhancing odor control measures at the plant.”

The lots are near Joseph Houska Drive and Hood Street on Isle La Plume.
