As I See It
As I See It…what do you call this place again?

Shakespeare gave us the expression “What’s in a name?” At this point in history, the answer could be “Quite a lot is in a name.” America is seeing a flurry of name changes right now.
Fifty years ago, officials in Alaska wanted to change the name of Mount McKinley to Denali, a name used within the state. The change to Denali eventually occurred a decade ago, but the Trump White House recently changed it back to McKinley, to honor the president first elected in 1896. Late in the first Trump term, steps were taken to remove the names of Confederate officers from some well-known military bases. In the process, Fort Benning became Fort Moore, and Fort Bragg became Fort Liberty. Mister Trump didn’t like that, and now that he’s back in the Oval Office, those two name changes have been reversed. But there is a twist. Forts Benning and Bragg are now named after different veterans with those same last names.
The main argument seems to be that the changes made before were an attempt to erase military history, or else to force wokeness on people. The White House also insists the big body of water along the shores of Louisiana and Mississippi is the Gulf of America, not the Gulf of Mexico. To which somebody suggested the big shopping mall near Minneapolis should be renamed the Mall of Mexico. So, is this really a high priority for Washington, and are we going to get more of these changes soon? We might be giving map-makers a headache or two. I’m Brad Williams, on WIZM.

Mr. Williams, President Trump isn’t wily nily changing names of Forts or mountains randomly, he is changing them back to what they were, before the left changed them to what they wanted them to be. And he should be called President Trump, not Mr. Trump to you. It’s quite obvious you don’t care for our President but 70+ million who voted for him do.

I may be mistaken but it seems this is a replay comment. Either way WIZM could use a total reboot on

I will him President Trump. And then I will say he is a petty, vindictive person whose stance is criticize me and you will pay. He is trampling all over free speech and the constitution.
Biden was a bad president but Trump will go down as the worst.

So let me get this straight, Brad.
It was OK for the last administration to spend time and money changing the names of all the forts and mountains in-between eating ice cream cones in front of the press.
But………now you take issue with someone changing the names back?
Where was your rage and outcry when it happened the first time?
Does WIZM have any plans to replace Mike Hayes point of view?

Trumps busy handling ‘the important issues’ such as this like you said.
The SP+DOW are back to October of 2024 levels, those tariffs sure are making my groceries cheaper…
All you hear out of Trump on this is ‘there may be a recession’. You know with certainty after that comment his administration is going to artificially crash the market, then buy up all the assets at the bottom.
Hopefully there’s a few 1%ers in the comments that will know when the crash is happening. /S

The S&P is down 7.5% from its all-time high set less than two months ago (under Trump). Not the first time and won’t be the last. Look for the S&P to rebound quickly as it attempted to do last week. The Fed Put will come through once again if the tariffs last too long and if needed.
As Trump stated, your groceries aren’t likely to get cheaper but the rate of inflation should eventually settle in at a lower rate so wages can catch up to the damage done under democrats. The prospect of likely lower taxes, or at least extending, the 2017 tax act (TCJA), will also help.

Creating confusion by giving places, events and people different names are among the few things democrats are good at. Biden couldn’t tell the difference between a man and a women for example, didn’t understand what a Nazi was, and made the term “racism” meaningless by demoting it to an all-purpose pejorative to describe anyone who disagreed with him.
Someone needs to start up an actual radio station for La Crosse, you know, one with real news and thoughtful editorial (news and editorial are two different things, by the way). As a starting point, dump the “AP” as the default news source.
