Report: Lenders could take control of City Brewery

La Crosse’s City Brewery is reportedly looking to restructure with lenders taking control of the company.

Bloomberg News reported late Thursday that talks with creditors increased last year as the company wanted to protect its cash reserves as demand for the products it makes declines.

The report also said that it’s the second time in less than a year that City Brewery worked to restructure its debt. In April 2024, Bloomberg said the company formed a new legal entity and borrowed $115 million against its collateral.

City Brewery was purchased by a group of investors in 2021.

It does contract work making beverages including Pabst Blue Ribbon and White Claw.

City Brewery has four locations including La Crosse. They operate breweries in Latrobe, PA, Memphis, TN, and Irwindale, CA.

The report said that negotiations continue and aren’t finalized yet.
