Two part-time staff joined La Crosse Talk saying with just a few months left of the Shelter being open for the season, they need for food, personal hygiene items such as mouthwash, volunteers, and cash donations.

Johnny Wadzinski and Lacey Hein shared there was one night when the weather was 15-below that shelter workers were heartbroken to turn people away because the Warming Center was full, which resulted in horrible cries of desperation.

In addition to needing to house more individuals, the two asked for more premade meals that they can warm up that can feed forty individuals – both dinner and breakfast. The Center says extra is appreciated when they are open 7:00 PM to 8:30 AM.

Wadzinski spoke of their programs that provide support groups and the connections to resources that are made at the Center.

People wanting to donate items, cash, or a meal can reach out to Johnny at 608.769.4157 or email Karla Hein at [email protected].

The Center closes for the season on April 30.
