In like a lion: Possible March winter storm approaching

The Coulee Region could see some of the worst weather of the winter in another day or so.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch in effect from Tuesday evening through Wednesday afternoon for La Crosse and the surrounding areas.

That includes northeastern Iowa, southeastern Minnesota, and western Wisconsin.

As of Monday morning, the weather service said that blizzard conditions are possible with this storm system.

Wind gusts of up to 50 mph are forecast.

As far as snow, three to six inches are predicted.

The NWS forecast said travel could be hazardous with whiteout conditions possible in the area.

    Coincidentally, Wednesday is the anniversary of La Crosse’s all-time record snowstorm on March 5th, 1959 when 22 inches of snow fell.
