When was the last time you were really sick?  Did you catch COVID and isolate yourself? 

Or maybe you had the flu bad enough to require a few days in bed.  Or your illness might have been serious enough for you to go to the hospital for stronger treatment.  

There have been at least 20 million cases and 11,000 deaths from flu so far this season. 

This is the second time this season that the flu cases have increased. 

Hospitalizations are rising too, with an estimated 38,255 Americans being admitted to a hospital from flu last week alone. 

Similar to the test for COVID, there is now a new at-home/over-the-counter test that will let you test for flu symptoms.

The tests use self-collected nasal swabs with results ready within 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the type. 

It doesn’t test for every respiratory virus, but it may save you a visit to the germ-laden doctors office or emergency room or doc in the box.
