La Crosse woman charged with child trafficking, drug possession

Child trafficking and drug charges are being brought against a 35-year-old La Crosse woman, who appeared before a local judge on Wednesday.

Krista Thompson is suspected of trafficking an underage girl.
La Crosse County Judge Gloria Doyle set a $5,000 signature bond for Thompson, and told her to have no contact with the alleged victim or anyone else under 18, except in public places.
A provision was included for Thompson to be in a public place with her own daughter, who is not the victim in the case.
A criminal complaint is still being prepared by the district attorney.
Thompson is also facing multiple drug charges, suspected of possessing cocaine, meth, and prescription drugs.
Police found Thompson carrying the drugs during a recent traffic stop. Thompson’s next court hearing is scheduled for Feb. 5.
