La Crosse man in jail for intentional homicide in north-side shooting

An arrest Sunday in La Crosse following a shooting death leads to a homicide charge against a 28-year-old La Crosse man.

Cody Alland is in the La Crosse County jail, following the weekend shooting of 42-year-old Justin Betz in the 1800 block of George Street.

Betz was shot once, and life-saving measures were taken before he was transported to a hospital, where he died a short time later. When police tried to arrest Alland on Sunday night, he allegedly drove away from the scene, but was stopped within a short time.

Alland is being held in jail without bond, and is expected to have a court hearing on Tuesday.
