Viterbo to celebrate Martin Luther King holiday, featuring Stanford’s Lerone A. Martin

Viterbo University has made it a tradition to observe the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday.

Monday’s main address will feature speaker Lerone A. Martin. He’s a Stanford University professor and director of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Research and Education Institute there.

That 7 p.m. community celebration with Lerone A. Martin at the Viterbo Fine Arts Center caps off an entire day of events at the university.

Viterbo calls it a day of service, learning and celebration. Staff and students will volunteer with community organizations during the day.

The schedule begins with an 8:30 a.m. breakfast in the FSPA Lobby, followed by the morning volunteer activities around the city.

A lunch on campus will be followed by learning sessions, and later a 5 p.m. community dinner at the Sister Thea Bowman Center.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
