La Crosse County Board endorses donation to fund that could help attract more airline service

A donation for reimbursing commercial airlines at the La Crosse Regional Airport if ticket sales are insufficient was approved Thursday by the La Crosse County Board.

The resolution adopted would set aside up to $250,000 in county funds for the Minimum Revenue Guarantee (MRG).

Backers of the fund were optimistic that the investment could attract a new airline, such as Delta, back to La Crosse.

The airport’s goal is to raise $1.5 million for the MRG.

Other groups donating to the fund would be disclosed to the board, before any money is allocated from the county fund. The $250,000 was included in the county’s 2025 budget.

American Airlines are the only daily flights currently at the airport. Delta ended service in 2023.

The board turned down a motion that would have postponed the vote, until after more county supervisors are able to take tours of the airport.
