House arrest lifted for St. Junious, suspect in 2019 La Crosse stabbing death

The suspect in a La Crosse murder that occurred nearly six years ago will not have to remain under house arrest.

Anquin St. Junious, though, will have to continue wearing a GPS monitor while he awaits trial in the 2019 stabbing death of Virgil Stewart.

St. Junious is living in the Milwaukee area. He argued during a Thursday court hearing that house arrest limits his opportunity to find work.

He appeared by video before Judge Ramona Gonzalez, who said St. Junious is not allowed in La Crosse County before his trial.

St. Junious is accused of reckless homicide for reportedly killing Stewart during an argument inside a parked La Crosse taxicab in January of 2019.

No trial date has been set, and the case has been delayed in the past partly because St. Junious has repeatedly changed defense attorneys.
