County Board to accept applicants for vacant seat serving Onalaska and Holmen

The La Crosse County Board has a seat to fill before the next board election in 2026.

Kevin Hoyer has resigned as the supervisor for District 24, after moving out of the district which represents the Onalaska-Holmen area. People who would like to serve on the board have until Friday, January 3rd to submit letters of interest to the county clerk’s office.

Candidates must be at least 18, and must either live in the district now or plan to move there. Hoyer was elected to a two-year term this past April. All 30 supervisors on the La Crosse County Board run for election during the spring in even-numbered years.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.

    I’m sure they will pick someone who is an independent thinker who will vote his or her’s conscience and not go along to get along. Wait what am I thinking they will pick someone who supports the agenda of the people who pull the strings in the county. The county board , the law enforcement oversight committee local school boards all the same.
