Suspect in La Crosse drive-by shooting that wounded six fails to get bond lowered

A $1 million cash bond will not be reduced for the suspect in a downtown La Crosse drive-by shooting last June.

Deandrew Grant had requested a lower bond of around $10,000, reportedly promising to remain in La Crosse if he’s let out of jail.
Judge Ramona Gonzalez denied the request Wednesday, stating that the shooting happened hours after Grant had been in court for another case.
Grant was facing 29 charges, including attempted murder, after allegedly shooting and wounding six people when he drove the wrong direction down 3rd Street and opened fire out of his vehicle.
After the shooting, Grant sped away, but then eventually got out of his car and ran. Cameras downtown caught much of the situation. At one point, he had thrown what police later found was a gun onto the rooftop of a downtown business.
He was arrested around 8 a.m.
The judge said he was not a good risk for release.
