A few days from committee week, Mac Kiel joins first, to discuss some upcoming items on the Judiciary and Administration Committee, as well as a bit of a homeless update. After that, Amber Peterson joins as a write-in candidate running for La Crosse School Board.

La Crosse Talk PM airs weekdays at 5:06 p.m. Listen on the WIZM app, online here, or on 92.3 FM / 1410 AM / 106.7 FM (north of Onalaska). Find all the podcasts here or subscribe to La Crosse Talk PM wherever you get your podcasts.

One of the interesting items on the J&A agenda has to deal with super majority votes, after the state just abolished overrides at the municipality level.

Kiel also talked about the homeless situation. She goes out weekly with the Homeless Outreach Team. The conversation stems from an update by La Crosse Mayor Mitch Reynolds about cleanup efforts along the Black River of homeless encampments. So far this year, 180 tons of refuse and abandoned belongings.

As for Peterson, we of course discussed the school board putting a $54 million referendum question on the November ballot, along with some of her priorities if elected.

You can find more info on Peterson’s campaign here. She is one of many write-in candidates running for three open seats on the board.

Two candidates are on the ballot, though voters can choose either or neither of those, and write in up to three names.
