As I See It
Aid to Ukraine should not depend on fixing border crisis
It is easy to lose one’s resolve during a lengthy war. Russian invaded Ukraine almost two years ago, and the United States has stood by Ukraine’s side since then, supplying money and weaponry. But that money is drying up, even as the war continues to rage. Now it appears support for Ukraine is running thin on Capitol Hill, and experts are warning that one more round of military aid later this month will be the last until Congress approves more funding. Unfortunately, some are tying their support for aid for Ukraine to the need to fix this country’s immigration problem. The group of Congressmen and Senators say they will only approve more money to help Ukraine in its fight against Russia if money is also allocated to reduce the number of immigrants fleeing to this country. That would be a mistake. Yes, changes need to be made in our immigration policies and border security. But that should have nothing to do with Ukraine’s needs. We haven’t been able to solve the immigration problem in many decades. It is unfair to insist we do it now if Ukraine will get any more help from the U.S. Defending Ukraine from Russian oppression is clearly in the interests of the United States’ national security and deserves the support of our elected officials, without getting dragged into the mud over immigration.

The U.S. has spent too much money on Ukraine already. Especially since Biden has hampered the efforts of Ukraine to fight their war. Europe needs to step up and be a bigger supporter in the fight against Russia. The war is on their doorstep and is a much greater threat to them than us. Our border is a bigger threat to our safety than Russia is. This country is heading toward bankruptcy and must make effective use of its resources, now!

this administration doesn’t care about America, they care about money laundering. the federal governments first priority is the safety of the American people, they obviously are treasonous foreign agents at this point. Our border must take 1st priority!

Greg took the words out of my mouth. If Europe doesn’t support it than why should we. It would affect them immediately. They are not doing anything. Another money laundering ring for our crooked politicians.
Our grandkids tax dollars are being spent to support government officials in Ukraine that’s moral in Mr. Shaw mind.

You’re acting as if bargaining chips are something new in politics.
“You want something? What’ll you give me for it?” is the way it has always worked.

Our Democratic party attempts to pack WAY too much into one bill. I think if Hakeem Jeffries could start to separate out and have autonomous bills we could get the GOP to pass them. We always pack too much into the bills and the GOP then picks them apart (sometimes I think rightly so). When I talk to my cousoins down in Arizona they are being overwhelmed with migrants. I think changes to asylum requirements and/or humanitarian parole needs to happen. Even our Democrat Governor finally pushed to get the National Guard down to the border. We need to push Hakeem to write bills that are autonomous and address the specific cost. We need common sense as Democrats. We certainly would not give our children a blank $150,000 check/funding without knowing what they are spending https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTUdnIZVs54

Nice twist. Aid to Ukraine does not depend on our own border. We could have fixed the border before the Russians ever entered Ukraine. That was before something like 10 million illegals entered the county and 1 Trillion of support costs for them.
