Six star athletes have been inducted into the UW-La Crosse Athletic Wall of Fame, at a weekend ceremony on campus.
Inducted as part of the 2023 group are softball player Jenna Ahnen Kast, shot put champion Kim Dankemeyer Werth, Jason Janke from the 1992 national championship football team, gymnastics champion Jackie La Fleur, basketball standout Tony Mane, Jr., and record-holding pole vaulter Hans Schmidt.
Janke and Dankmeyer were athletes at UWL during the 1990’s. The others competed for La Crosse between 2001 and 2011. Except for LaFleur, who works as an automation consultant, the other honorees have had careers in education, with some coaching school teams.
The Wall of Fame, established in 1969, now has 251 members.
