A former La Crosse County judge will run again for a circuit court seat.

Candice Tlustosch has announced as a candidate in the election for a Branch 3 judge, to be held next April. Tlustosch is a La Crosse attorney who served for several months as a county judge in 2015. She was appointed by former Governor Scott Walker following the retirement of Judge Dale Pasell, but did not win election to the seat that year.

Attorney Mark Huesmann was appointed last week as the next judge in Branch 3, to succeed Judge Todd Bjerke, who retires at the end of the month. Bjerke’s departure has led to the scheduling of a spring election.

There are no other races for La Crosse County circuit judge scheduled for 2024, but three other judges in the county have terms that end in 2025.
