New “Miss Wisconsin’s Teen” for 2023 comes from Onalaska

An Onalaska resident wins a statewide pageant in the Miss America Program.

Seventeen-year-old Trinity Horstman was named Miss Wisconsin’s Teen for 2023, from a field of 19 contestants who competed this weekend in Oshkosh. Horstman competed as Miss Crossing Rivers Teen in the finals on Friday night, and will go on to the national Miss America’s Teen contest. She takes home $2600 in scholarships.

Winning statewide scholarship pageants apparently runs in the Horstman family. Trinity’s sister, Savannah Horstman, held the Miss Wisconsin’s Teen title in 2019 and 2020.

The Miss Wisconsin’s Teen contest is held jointly with the Miss Wisconsin pageant, whose winner moves on to the Miss America contest. The new Miss Wisconsin for this year is Lila Szyryj from Madison, a recent UW-Madison graduate. Finishing third in that contest was Paige Eide of La Crosse, competing as Miss Madison. Jordenne Butler of Onalaska and Ellie Eswein of Tomah also placed in the Top 11 for Miss Wisconsin.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
