Suspect in theft of over 40 guns from La Crosse County shop lands in jail
An 18-year-old La Crosse man has been charged with theft and burglary for allegedly stealing guns and ammo from a store in Rockland, Wis.
Robert Benson, Jr., is one of three people suspected of crimes related to a recent break in at the Smoking Gun store on Commercial Street in Rockland. The burglary was reported shortly before 3 a.m. on April 25.
More than 40 weapons, mostly handguns, were taken from the store, along with four long rifles, and cash and raffle tickets. Another suspect, Nehemiah Sample, was recently captured in Arkansas, and a third person was arrested earlier.
Benson is in the La Crosse jail on a $5,000 cash bond. Also jailed is Nehemiah’s sister, Autumn Sample, who’s accused of receiving stolen property.
