Boat dock in La Crosse breaks loose, gets stuck under Isle La Plume bridge

Traffic has been blocked for part of the day on the La Crosse bridge connecting Isle La Plume to Norplex Drive, because a private dock broke loose and jammed beneath the bridge.

City vehicles have been blocking vehicle access to the Niedbalski bridge over the river since late Sunday morning, when the boat dock floated downstream and became stuck under the span.

River levels on the Mississippi are at their highest point in more than 20 years. The National Weather Service says the river stage at La Crosse was at 15.4 feet late Sunday morning, making the current flood the fourth-highest on record in the city. The river is expected to crest at 16.1 feet late Wednesday night or early Thursday.
